Hurricanes' Gerbe out 4 to 6 weeks with lower-body injury

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes expect forward Nathan Gerbe to miss 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury.

General manager Ron Francis says Tuesday that Gerbe has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Sunday.

Gerbe was injured Sunday on a hit in the corner from Los Angeles forward Kyle Clifford in the first period of a 4-3 win over the Kings. He was helped off the ice and didn't return.

Gerbe has one goal and two assists in 20 games this season with Carolina. He scored 26 goals and added 33 assists during his previous two years with the Hurricanes.
