Hurricanes claim Dahlback on waivers from Coyotes

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed defenseman Klas Dahlback on waivers from the Arizona Coyotes.

General manager Ron Francis announced Dalhback addition Tuesday, two days before the season opener at Winnipeg.

Francis calls Dahlback ''a big, left-shot defenseman'' who gives the Hurricanes added depth.

The 25-year-old had two goals and six assists in nearly 16 minutes of ice time per game with Arizona last season.
