Hurricanes activate van Riemsdyk from IR after concussion

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Hurricanes have activated defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk from injured reserve.

General manager Ron Francis announced the move about 5+ hours before Thursday night's game at Calgary.

The 26-year-old has missed three games with a concussion suffered in his debut with the team Oct. 7 against Minnesota. He has eight goals and 23 assists in 159 career games.
