Good karma follows Stone, Lazar after Senators forwards help homeless

Two members of the Ottawa Senators received immediate dividends on the ice after paying it forward with a generous act in the street.

Mired in an eight-game goal drought, Mark Stone has scored in three straight contests and added two assists after reportedly handing $50 to a homeless man. Fellow forward Curtis Lazar parted ways with the same amount and saw his eight-game drought end in scintillating fashion - by recording his first career two-goal performance in Ottawa's 6-1 rout of the provincial-rival Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Via the Ottawa Citizen:

"Mark is giving me a hard time (about telling the story). During the All-Star break, he was in a slump, we stopped at an intersection and he gave a homeless guy $50, and he's scored every game since.

"I pulled up to an intersection (Friday), there was a homeless guy and I gave him $50, and little did you know I scored two goals. Good karma. Paying it forward and, hopefully, it continues."

Stone was also fortunate in a different manner during Saturday's tilt, as he escaped serious injury despite having a skate find its way dangerously close to his face.

With just two victories in its last seven outings, Ottawa (24-23-6) certainly can use all of the good karma it can get.

The Senators look to start a win streak on Monday when they wrap up a three-game homestand against the Atlantic Division-rival Tampa Bay Lightning (29-18-4).
