A record 18 games went to overtime in the first round of the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs, surpassing the previous mark of 17 set in 2013. While no series went seven games, each one included at least one overtime game, with the eight teams that moved on battling varying degrees of fatigue going into the second round:
