Former Leaf Wendel Clark crosses enemy lines with praise for Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have a chance of tying the 1993-94 Leafs and 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres for the most consecutive wins to start a season (10), and former Maple Leaf Wendel Clark spoke out recently on how he feels about the possibility of the Habs tying his team's record. 

Although Toronto fans might not want to hear it, Clark had nothing but nice things to say about the Canadiens. 

"They’re on an impressive run," Clark told the Toronto Sun of the Canadiens. "And it all starts from the goal out with Carey Price. He’s been incredible. He has that team playing with so much confidence, they feel they can win any game, even when their backup goalie is in there."

Although the Canadiens are the biggest story in Montreal at the moment, the 1993-94 Maple Leafs did not hold that same honor as the Blue Jays were in the midst of a World Series championship run at the time. 

This season, Leafs fans no longer have the Blue Jays to root for as the team lost in the ALCS to the Kansas City Royals, and the Leafs barely have any wins to speak of with a 1-5-2 record through their first eight games. The only solace for Toronto fans at the moment is that neither the '93-'94 Leafs or '06-'07 Sabres won the Stanley Cup.
