Flyers' Voracek 'worked over' by former boxing champ Holmes

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek might have a little trouble finding his skating legs for Tuesday's home game against the Montreal Canadiens (24-22-4).

Although healthy heading into the All-Star break, Voracek was worked over a bit on Monday by former world heavyweight boxing champion Larry Holmes during the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association banquet. Seated at the main table, the 66-year-old "Easton Assassin" showed he could still pack a punch by playfully keeping the 26-year-old Voracek on his toes.

Via CSN Philly:

"I was nervous because (Holmes) was punching my legs for the last 45 minutes and I wasn't sure I could play (Tuesday)."

A bit wobbly, Voracek summoned the strength to get to his feet and accept the Outstanding Pro Athlete of the Year Award.

Signed to an eight-year, $66 million contract extension prior to the season, Voracek has come on after a sluggish start to record 10 points (four goals, six assists) in his last seven games. The veteran has 36 points (eight goals, club-best 28 assists) to trail only captain Claude Giroux for the team lead.

Holmes didn't walk away without any hardware, as he was presented the Living Legend Award.

United States Olympic soccer player Carli Lloyd was also in attendance.
