Flyers' Gostisbehere cleared to return vs. Rangers

The Philadelphia Flyers are receiving good news in bunches as of late.

Fresh off posting their fourth straight victory, the Flyers learned on Thursday that Shayne Gostisbehere is expected to return to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Metropolitan Division-rival New York Rangers. The rookie defenseman had missed the team's previous two contests with a lower-body injury, but feels ready to return after working out the kinks in practice.

Gostisbehere had been limited in practice earlier in the week, often reduced to skating with assistant coach Ian Laperriere or shooting drills with goaltenders Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth.

The 22-year-old had been sidelined since last Thursday, when he absorbed a knee-to-knee hit from Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu during the Flyers' 4-3 overtime victory.

Gostisbehere has scored seven goals and set up nine others this season for Philadelphia (19-15-7), which extended its good fortune with a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.

The Flyers look to complete a sweep of their three-game homestand and run their winning streak to six games at the Wells Fargo Center when they host the Rangers (23-14-5).
