Flames' Gaudreau: Competitive fire applies to everything

Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau doesn't like to come up short, so much so that he recently admitted to bending a rule or two if needed.

Named the NHL's First Star of the Week on Monday, Gaudreau acknowledged that he is fueled by an insatiable desire to compete. In fact, the 22-year-old admitted that his competitive fire occasionally has him doing his best to gain an unfair advantage - in matters away from an NHL arena, naturally.

Gaudreau hasn't had to experience that feeling at home in a long time, as the Flames (17-16-2) are riding high with a franchise-best 11-game winning streak at Scotiabank Saddledome. Gaudreau helped extend that run by tallying twice in Calgary's 5-3 victory over the provincial-rival Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.

Gaudreau has scored 15 goals and set up seven others during the streak. The 5-foot-9 forward resides tied for sixth in the league in both tallies (17) and points (39) in 35 games this season.
