Flames' Brodie sidelined 3-6 weeks with broken bone in hand
Calgary Flames defenseman T.J. Brodie is expected to miss three-to-six weeks after suffering a broken bone in his right hand, the team announced on Wednesday.
Brodie injured his hand after being hit by a shot from the point during Monday's preseason game against the Edmonton Oilers.
"It's definitely not the way I wanted to start, but there's nothing I can do about it now," the 25-year-old Brodie told the team's website. "I'm just trying to stay in shape and heal up as quick as possible and be ready for when I can come back."
Losing defensemen is nothing new for Calgary, which saw captain Mark Giordano - Brodie's primary blue-line partner - suffer a torn biceps tendon on Feb. 25 that ended his season in 2014-15.
Brodie collected a career-high 11 goals and 30 assists in 81 games last season. The Ontario native has scored 19 goals and set up 81 others in 266 career contests - all with the Flames.

Brodie's hand does not need surgery. With splint can skate and work out. First broken bone of any kind in his career #Flames
