Evaluating a season of growth for prospect Sam Reinhart

Sam Reinhart had an early audition with the Sabres at the beginning of the season, but after he played in his allotted number of games, Reinhart was sent back to play another year of junior hockey.

Reinhart, who spent most of his time with Buffalo on the bottom two lines playing against players who were much bigger and stronger than him, was charged with adding more bulk and refining his all-around skills this season in juniors.

The 19-year-old finished the year with a handful of AHL games in Rochester, where he played on a line with standouts Phil Varone and Johan Larsson, and Reinhart tallied three assists in three games.

So now that the results are in, it's so far, so good for Reinhart according to What's Going On In Buffalo.

"He’ll still need to put on some muscle in the off-season to be stronger on the stick and to be able to better battle for the puck, but developing chemistry with emerging players like Varone and Larsson is key," What's Going On In Buffalo wrote. "These three players are going to have an impact in Buffalo, and to see the three of them come together almost immediately gives a refreshing sense of hope for the future."
