Ducks granted permission to speak with MacLean

According to hockey insider Pierre LeBrun, the Anaheim Ducks have been granted permission to speak with former Ottawa Senators head coach Paul MacLean.

The Senators had previously stated that no team had asked for permission to speak with the former coach.

The Ducks will look to fill the assistant coach vacancy left after they fired Brad Lauer earlier this month.

MacLean had served as a Ducks assistant coach under Mike Babcock, but according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, MacLean may take some convincing to take an assistant coaching position.
