Ducks fire head coach Bruce Boudreau after first-round playoff exit

The Anaheim Ducks fired head coach Bruce Boudreau on Friday.

Boudreau led the team to a 46-25-11 record (103 points) this season and a fourth consecutive Pacific Division title. However, the Ducks were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Nashville Predators in seven games. Last season, the Ducks lost a seven-game series in the Western Conference finals to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. Both Game 7 losses came at home.

In a statement, Ducks executive vice president/GM Bob Murray said: "I would like to thank Bruce for his hard work and dedication to the franchise. This was a very difficult decision to make. Bruce is a good coach and character person, and we wish him the best of luck in the future."

In his five seasons behind the bench in Anaheim, Boudreau went 208-104-40. Prior to his tenure with the Ducks, he was 201-88-40 in five seasons as the Washington Capitals' head coach.
