Dallas Stars take aim at Blue Jays fans with latest jumbotron mischief
The Dallas Stars' jumbotron was at it again on Tuesday when it poked fun at the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs and their fanbase via a throwback to baseball season. The Stars kindly asked fans not to throw beer at any babies, a reference to mishap from Game 5 of the ALDS between the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays.
During that Game 5, Toronto fans threw beer on the field in anger after the umpires made a controversial call in the seventh inning which allowed the Rangers to take a 3-2 lead. Following the game, Toronto police said they arrested a fan who was charged with mischief after a baby was allegedly hit by the spray from a beer during the chaos.
Toronto, of course, went on to win the game and the series, but it looks like the rivalry is still alive between the fanbases as things got heated between the Stars and Maple Leafs on Twitter Tuesday night.
There's nothing like a bit of off-ice tension to raise the stakes of a game.
