Dallas Stars Should Expect Reinforcements Soon

Looks like the Stars’ injury bug may be kicked, so it’s time for the Stars to get back to full strength.

It’s no secret that the Dallas Stars have been hard up for healthy players this season. With 27 games under their belt and a less than pristine record to show for it, the consistent plague of injury and illness has been a major contributor in setting the Stars back from where they wanted to be this season.

However, there is a time to mourn and a time to rejoice. According to recent reports, it looks like the Stars will be welcoming back some of their injured players into rotation soon. Both Jiri Hudler and Johnny Oduya have begun to skate with the team again, meaning that the Stars will soon hopefully be adding both a forward and a defenseman to bolster a scarce line-up.

Jiri Hudler, who has been absent for 23 of the Stars’ last 27 games due to a virus that kept him feeling pretty poorly and has been lingering since the end of October. Although he is feeling closer to his normal self now, Lindy Ruff believes it will take about a week of conditioning and training for him to make up for all the time and practice he missed. We don’t know when exactly he’ll be back, but he is out on the ice again, which is a great sign.

Johnny Oduya has been spotted out on the ice during practice, also. After sustaining a lower body injury against the Oilers near the end of October, Oduya has been on IR right along with Hudler. With seven games missed, he’s back skating with the team, and Ruff says he’s likely to return later in the week.

To strengthen the Stars’ defense after Oduya’s injury, the Stars called up Esa Lindell to fill the gap. He and the other rookies have been holding their own this season with the Stars, and perhaps the experience they’ll gain and the contributions they’ve made to the team are the upsides to the whole injury fiasco.

A wise man once said that the lowest ebb is the turn of the tide, and it may be the same for the Stars. Although they’ve suffered some disappointing and frustrating losses lately, with some players on their way back and the Stars perhaps starting to find their way again, things could start looking up when you least expect it.
