Coyotes' Domingue accuses officials of preferential treatment
Arizona Coyotes goaltender Louis Domingue accused NHL officials of preferential treatment during Monday's 3-2 loss to the league-leading Washington Capitals.
With Washington nursing a 2-1 lead midway into the third period, Domingue initially covered the puck with his glove before it was jostled free by Capitals forward Tom Wilson. Veteran Mike Richards scored from just outside the crease moments later, causing the 23-year-old Domingue to slam his stick on the crossbar in disgust following the lack of a whistle.
Via ArizonaCoyotes.com:
"I'm expecting that they treat every guy the same way, and I felt like because I don't have many games in this league, I'm being treated differently. And I think that if (Washington's Braden) Holtby would've covered the puck this way, they would've (blown) the whistle right away. All game it was the same thing.
"I didn't have the whistle. ... It's just unacceptable that they don't treat us the same way."
You can judge for yourself if Domingue has a right to be angry with the (non) call.
That poke right there keeps the puck alive. Richie gets his first. #CapsYotes #RockTheRed https://t.co/CfJKkLDQj4

Richards' first goal of the season stood as the game-winner and Holtby made 25 saves to record his 38th victory.
.@domingue35: “We’re playing the best team in the League, and to get calls like that frustrates me… It’s unfortunate.”

The 26-year-old Holtby was playing in his 226th career contest while Domingue (31 saves) - who is still considered a rookie - was making his 28th NHL start.
