Confident Gostisbehere nets first career NHL goal for Flyers

Philadelphia Flyers rookie defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere plays as if he doesn't have a care in the world.

"I feel comfortable," the 22-year-old Gostisbehere told NJ.com after he scored a goal in Philadelphia's 3-2 shootout setback to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. "It's the guys around me. They build me up. They give me all the confidence in the world, and they let me go bombs away."

That's precisely what Gostisbehere did in the first period against the Kings, wiring a blast from the point to score his first goal of the season in his fourth game of his career. The rookie recorded four shots on goal in 19 minutes, 40 seconds of ice time.

Gostisbehere has played in two contests since the severe injury to fellow defenseman Mark Streit, who is expected to be sidelined as many as six weeks.

A third-round pick of the 2012 draft, Gostisbehere notched his first career NHL point - an assist - in Philadelphia's 3-2 overtime victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
