Condon saves Habs' bacon with no-look, behind-the-back save

After one period of play Wednesday night, it appeared the Montreal Canadiens would not need a huge game from goalie Mike Condon, sporting a 2-0 lead on the road against the Washington Capitals, owner of the NHL’s best record.

And a minute, 54 seconds into the second period, when a third goal made it 3-0 and chased Caps goalie Braden Holtby, the Habs were poised to hunker down, hold a lead and skate to one of the more stunning wins of the season.

But a pair of Washington goals in the final eight minutes of regulation turned a 4-1 game into a 4-3 nailbilter.

Good thing Condon came up with the eye-popping save in the video above.

Thanks to that, and his 32 other saves, the Canadiens held on for a 4-3 win.
