Carey Price stones Rangers with great diving save in overtime
Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price hit a bit of a rough patch at the turn of the new year, but it appears that the netminder has returned to form as one of the best the NHL has to offer.
Price had a strong outing in New York on Tuesday night, making 28 stops on 30 attempts against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. His most important save came in overtime when he absolutely robbed J.T. Miller with a diving save across the crease.
During a two-on-one rush for the Rangers in the extra frame, Miller received a pass with Price out of position and had a great look at a mostly wide-open net. Miller tried to bury the puck through the center of the goal frame but was turned away when Price threw his body in front of the shot. The game-saving stop kept the Rangers out of the win column and helped send the contest to a shootout, which Montreal eventually won.
I'm sure Miller didn't lose any sleep over that shot placement.
