Captain popular: NHL sells out of John Scott All-Star Game shirts

John Scott received a significant lift from social media when fans stuffed the ballot boxes to include the journeyman enforcer as a captain in the upcoming NHL All-Star Game.

And now it seems those same fans are also coming out in droves to buy Scott's All-Star Game shirt, because they're out of stock.

Shop NHL sold out of the gray shirts, which sport Scott's No. 28 and name on the back, as of Thursday — days before the All-Star Game takes place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Scott was able to remain captain of the Pacific Division, despite being traded from the Coyotes to the Montreal Canadiens and sent down to its AHL team.

The 33-year-old has collected five goals, six assists and 542 penalty minutes in 285 career contests.

While Scott's statistics aren't representative of a typical NHL All-Star captain, fans have embraced the 6-foot-8 enforcer nonetheless.
