Capitals' Tom Wilson gets turned into a bloody mess after high-sticking Zach Parise
Tuesday night was a rough one for Zach Parise. The Minnesota Wild forward took a brutal stick to the face during the first period of their contest against the Washington Capitals. As he fell to the ice grabbing his face, Parise collided with Washington's Jay Beagle.

After the double-whammy, Parise was clearly in a lot of pain. He laid on the ice for several seconds kicking his feet in discomfort as the Wild's training staff came to his assistance. Ultimately, he was helped to the locker room and did not return.
Following the game, Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau said Parise's eye was badly swollen but that the collision with Beagle caused a separate "upper body injury" that did more damage than the stick.
But that didn't save Tom Wilson -- the Capitals forward who was responsible for taking out Parise with the high stick -- from having to answer the bell. Later in the first period, the Wild's Chris Stewart dropped the gloves with Wilson in search of retribution.

It wasn't a great fight and it only lasted a few seconds, but a pretty nasty cut was opened above Wilson's right eye during the scrap -- one that left him a bloody mess at its conclusion. That seemed to be good enough for Stewart.
For such an eventful fight, it also produced some excellent photos.
