Capitals' Kuznetsov scores with plaid suit at All-Star Game media day

Although a late addition to the NHL All-Star Game, Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov scored early by wearing an eye-popping suit during the event's media day on Friday.

With a grey-and-black plaid jacket and matching pants, Kuznetsov made quite the statement as the players found their way around Nashville, Tenn. Kuznetsov didn't have long to dwell on his fashion choice as the 23-year-old Russian was added to the NHL All-Star Game roster on Thursday, replacing fellow teammate and injured countryman Alex Ovechkin (lower body).

Kuznetsov will be playing in his first NHL All-Star Game and joins teammates Nicklas Backstrom and Braden Holtby along with coach Barry Trotz. Kuznetsov, in fact, even tried his hand at getting behind the camera, although Backstrom didn't seem to be too interested at the moment.

Perhaps the quick stroll and the bright lights took their toll on Kuznetsov, who took off the jacket in favor of some All-Star swag.

Kuznetsov likely will work up a sweat when he competes in the mini-net passing competition on Saturday.

The promising star has been quite accurate this season, pouring in 15 goals to go along with his team-leading 34 assists and 49 points for the league-best Capitals (35-8-4). Kuznetsov's plus-24 rating is tied with Detroit Red Wings rookie Dylan Larkin and Los Angeles Kings forward Tyler Toffoli for tops in the NHL.
