Buffalo to host USA Hockey's top prospects game

USA Hockey will for the first time showcase its top NHL draft-eligible players in what its calling an All-American Prospects Game to be played in Buffalo.

The game will be played on Sept. 29, and feature the top 40 American-born prospects, USA Hockey executive director Dave Ogrean announced Monday. USA Hockey in collaboration with NHL Central Scouting will determine which players to invite from the Canadian junior, U.S. college and high school ranks.

The event will be similar to the Canadian Hockey League top prospects game annually held in January or February since 1992.

Buffalo and the NHL's Sabres were chosen to host the game because of the success USA Hockey's had in holding events in the city, including the World Junior Hockey Championships last year.
