Blackhawks player records hilarious assist while lying down in net

Sunday's Blackhawks-Bruins game didn't bring hockey fans the most beautiful assist of the year but it sure brought the funniest.

Near the end of the second period, Chicago winger Richard Panik fell to the ice and found himself lying inside the Bruins' net. With the puck on the stick of his teammate Artemi Panarin, Panik covered his face and braced himself for friendly fire.

That proved to be wise, as Panarin -- with a completely empty net to shoot at -- drilled Panik right on the shoulder logo

Panik prevented a goal for his team with that shot block, but he also earned himself an assist in the process. The rebound came right back to Panarin, who buried the secondary chance and got his team on the board.

That's just about the weirdest helper you're ever going to see, but an apple is an apple.
