Blackhawks' Hossa ruled out vs. Devils
Marian Hossa will miss his third straight game on Friday as the veteran forward has been ruled out of the Chicago Blackhawks' road tilt versus the New Jersey Devils.
Hossa, who didn't make the trip to the Garden State, is considered day-to-day with the lower-body injury he suffered in a contest last week against the Central Division-rival Minnesota Wild.
Coach Joel Quenneville told reporters that Hossa could return for Sunday's home game versus the Edmonton Oilers.
The Blackhawks haven't missed a beat offensively without Hossa, scoring nine goals in two games (1-0-1). Ryan Garbutt will once again take the 36-year-old Hossa's place on the top line and skate with captain Jonathan Toews and rookie Artemi Panarin.
Hossa has collected one goal and three assists in 11 contests this season.
Coach Q expects Hossa to be ready to play on Sunday. Garbutt is fine, will play tonight. Crawford gets the start in net. #CHIvsNJD
