Arizona Coyotes Rookie Camp Concludes
The Arizona Coyotes capped off their rookie camp with a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings rookies on Wednesday.
Tuesday’s loss was disappointing for the Arizona Coyotes, however they bounced back with a win in the rematch on Wednesday.
Michael Bunting and Conor Garland were the goalscorers, and Adin Hill was steady in net to secure the 2-1 victory over LA.
With revenge comes the end of rookie camp, and the start of a greater challenge for those youngsters on the bubble to make the NHL.
Both matchups featured a young Yotes squad that seemed very tentative in the early going. In Wednesday’s game, they appeared to warm to the task as the minutes wore on.
2016 1st round draft pick Jakob Chychrun made his preseason debut and was solid, if not spectacular, while John Chayka heaped praise on center prospect Ryan MacInnis for his play on both nights.
More from Howlin' Hockey
If MacInnis were to catch the eye of Dave Tippett and Chayka in the same manner that Tobias Rieder and Jordan Martinook have in previous years, the Coyotes roster may look much different on opening night compared to current expectations.
It’ll be an interesting development to watch over the next several weeks.
