Anaheim Ducks Have Re-Signed Forward Patrick Eaves

Anaheim Ducks Re-Sign Mid-Season Acquisition Patrick Eaves to a New Three-Year Contract.

The Anaheim Ducks have announced the signing of forward Patrick Eaves to a new three-year contract worth $3.1 million. The team acquired Eaves during a mid-season trade involving the Dallas Stars a conditional second round pick in this year's draft.

Eaves was on fire in Dallas putting up 21 goals, 11 of which came on the power-play. While he's unlikely to put up 32 goals again, he will definitely help the Ducks, especially on the power-play. Eaves began his NHL career in 2005-06 for the Ottawa Senators where he put up 29 points in 58 games but followed up with 32 points the next season. He's always been an offensive minded player that can put the puck in the back of the net but won't hit his career high of 51 points from last season.

If Eaves can stay healthy he will definitely be in the 20-30 point range like the rest of his seasons. And since it's a three-year deal worth $3.1 million, that's only $1,033,333 per season which is a huge bargain especially after the year he had in 2016-17.

The Ducks added a key contributor on their special teams for basically nothing. And he also brings a ton of experience at 33 years old and is also quite durable since he can play on either the left or right side.
