Alex Ovechkin looked like a hoops star in a charity basketball game

Alex Ovechkin is staying in shape this offseason by dabbling in a sport other than hockey. The Washington Capitals star showed off his hoops skills recently in a charity game in Russia.

According to a story from TSN, Ovechkin played on a team coached by his mother, Tatyana Ovechkina, who was a two-time Olympic gold medal winner in women's basketball. The hockey star must have inherited some of his mother's skills on the court, because he looked like a seasoned player draining threes and playing solid defense.

Ovechkin was not the only professional athlete in the line-up; former NBA player Andrei Kirilenko played on the opposing team. The game reportedly benefited a charity for children suffering from cerebral palsy.
