96 percent season-ticket renewal rate? Call that the Jack Eichel effect

Despite having two of the worst seasons in franchise history in the last two seasons (finishing with 106 combined points in the last two years, a lower point total than five teams finished with just last season), the fans are still not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

Why?

It might have something to do with that Jack Eichel guy.

The team drafted the once in a generation prospect second overall, but the team has also added key pieces for next season. The Sabres traded for scoring forward Ryan O'Reilly, added head coach Dan Bylsma, and Evander Kane will make his first appearance in Sabres colors next season.

In total, Buffalo sold 16,000 season tickets, the maximum they allow in First Niagara Center. And of those 16,000 season ticket holders, 96 percent of them are renewals.

“The fact that we had such a high rate of renewal from our season ticket holders is really a testament to the direction our organization is headed,” Sabres president Russ Brandon said, from the Sabres website. “There’s a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding our team and we can’t wait to get on the ice.”
