Zach Ertz, Leodis McKelvin and Lane Johnson haven’t officially been ruled out for Monday.
You may not need to take tight end Zach Ertz, cornerback Leodis McKelvin and tackle Lane Johnson out of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ gameplan yet. There always seems to be a surprise or two coming out of Philadelphia, and today was no different as head coach Doug Pederson announced that all three still have a chance to play on Monday.
We’ve all watched this regime long enough to know that these guys love playing with their cards pretty close to the vest, so do these guys have a realistic shot at playing or is this an attempt to keep the Chicago Bears and the rest of us guessing?
We’re aware of the fact that there’s still been no suspension issued for right tackle Lane Johnson. He’ll be in the lineup if he’s available, but Ertz has that rib displacement (apparently one of his ribs is seven millimeters out of position), and that just doesn’t sound like something someone should be playing NFL football with. McKelvin continues to nurse a hamstring injury.
Both Ertz and McKelvin are necessary, needed and key to this team’s long-term success, but you don’t want to risk further injury either. We’ll definitely be eying this one closely.
