Zach Ertz is one hundred percent sure he'll play versus the Detroit Lions
Expect tight end Zach Ertz to be in the lineup on Sunday.
On the first drive of his professional career, quarterback Carson Wentz looked to tight end Zach Ertz to bail him out of a jam and keep the drive going. Ertz did his job by snagging a difficult reception. The two seemed to be developing some chemistry before Ertz was forced to leave the game due to injury. That injury, a displaced rib, kept him out of the last two games as well, but fans of the Philadelphia Eagles may not have to wait much longer before they get their starting tight end back.

In fact, Ertz says he’s 100 percent sure he’ll be in the lineup on Sunday. “Obviously, with the bye week being what it was, big help for me in particular, a lot of guys that were banged up loved it, so I’m ready to go on Sunday” said Ertz in a statement to the Philadelphia media. When asked about his rib and his most recent X-ray, he continued. “The picture that came back today was great, and everyone’s really happy with where it is”.
Ertz had been getting treatment all week and working out, and now with the Detroit Lions on the horizon, the division leading Eagles get one of their best weapons back in the lineup.
Backup tight end Brent Celek did well in Ertz’s absence, but don’t expect him to sit on the bench now. Eagles fans may see a few sets featuring three tight ends in an attempt to force defenses to either stay in their base set or bring a third cornerback out on the field and play nickel. Either option, as Ertz stated, will create mismatches and open up things in the running and passing game. This offense may be even more interesting than they already have been come Sunday.
