Wu-Tang taught 'Kickalicious' English

Step to the Wu.
Detroit Lions kicker Havard Rugland is Norwegian, and discovered he could learn English by listening to the Staten Island-based rap outfit Wu-Tang Clan (Caution: This is a rap video, so proceed accordingly).
“The first day we’re hanging out in the hot tub, right?” Lions guard Rob Sims told The Detroit Free Press. “I’m just talking to him and I was like, ‘You speak English really well. Man, where’d you learn English?’ He was like, ‘Mostly from movies and listening to Wu-Tang.’ It blew my mind.”
This makes sense, actually. Because rap music is so lyrically oriented, it makes sense for someone trying to learn the language. And although the Wu-Tang Clan was not the most radio-friendly rap act of the 1990s, they were one of the best at enunciation, and their minimalist production allowed the lyrics to stand out.
Rugland has a crazier story to tell, anyway. The only reason he’s in Lions camp right now is that the Lions saw this video on YouTube:
They thought that looked like a guy that might be able to make some field goals and called him up. He’s since become one of the sensations of this NFL training camp season.
