WR Torrey Smith reportedly signs five-year deal with 49ers

Amid a host of offseason departures, the 49ers are bringing in wide receiver Torrey Smith to try to stem the tide.

San Francisco signed Smith to a five-year deal, according to multiple reports. The signing reunites Smith with former Ravens teammate Anquan Boldin and pairs a duo that helped beat the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

Smith, arguably the best deep threat on the free-agent market, might replace free agent Michael Crabtree and recently released Stevie Johnson.

The 49ers, who have a new head coach and a mostly new coaching staff, have already lost running back Frank Gore and offensive lineman Mike Iupati to new teams and linebacker Patrick Willis to retirement.

Smith caught 49 passes for 767 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2014.
