Woodhead, Chargers agree to deal

Wes Welker isn’t the only popular New England Patriots player headed to the AFC West in 2013.

The San Diego Chargers have agreed to a two-year deal with reliable running back Danny Woodhead on Friday.

Undrafted, Woodhead was released by the New York Jets in training camp in 2010, but has excelled as a Patriots back for the past three seasons in New England. He scored a touchdown in New England’s last Super Bowl appearance.

The Chargers announced the signing on their website.

Woodhead joins a Chargers team that hired a new head coach, former Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, in January.
