Why Did the Houston Texans Pay Brock Osweiler?
The Houston Texans gave quarterback all kinds of money and now, they’re stuck with him. When there’s smoke, there’s fire and rumor has it that owner Bob McNair spearheaded the acquisition.
If you’re a Houston Texans fan, were just bamboozled, hoodwinked, led astray. Ower Bob McNair pulled the trigger on a ridiculous contract for a quarterback with seven starts. And he sold Osweiler as a franchise quarterback to the Texans fan base.
I’ve tried to tell anyone that would listen and there weren’t many that this was a bad move. One of those seven starts was against a bottom-feeder Oakland Raiders defense. And he didn’t do so much as lead a touchdown drive in the game.
And he had a loaded offense with the Denver Broncos just like he has with the Texans now. Sure, he made a few nice throws but never showed consistency for a game much less a season. Brian Hoyer played better last year but the Texans jettisoned him in for Osweiler this offseason.
When you’re paid like a franchise quarterback, you’re not suppose to let anyone shut you out. Sure you can give Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots credit. But the Patriots defense isn’t that good, coming in at No. 28 against the pass.
Last Sunday, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for almost 400 yards on them. But Osweiler took 41 attempts and still didn’t throw for 200 yards but had an interception. I can’t hear people saying, “It’s just one game.” but they need to quit.
But in three games so far, Osweiler has thrown three touchdowns and four interceptions. You can call it just one game when the quarterback has established himself. But Osweiler was inconsistent last year and so far this year, he is downright dreadful.
The Texans have a great team but the Osweiler is holding them back.
That’s not what he’s getting paid for, is he?
