Whitehurst manages to rack up millions while basically living on the sideline
A few people hit the lottery more than once. Then there is Charlie Whitehurst.
The backup quarterback signed a two-year, up to $8 million contract with the Tennessee Titans this week. That brings his career NFL earnings to around the $25 million mark.
Whitehurst has these stats to show for all the bucks he's banked: He has played in 13 games since being a third-round pick by the San Diego Chargers out of Clemson in 2006. Four of those appearances came in mop-up duty and produced zero stats. In his other nine games, all with the Seattle Seahawks, he threw 155 passes, including three for touchdowns. A grand total of 805 yards passing.
