Where is the 2017 NFL Draft?
The 2017 NFL Draft will have a new home after being in Chicago the previous two seasons. Where will the 2017 NFL Draft take place?
The 2017 NFL Draft is one of the most important events on the upcoming NFL calendar. Whether you are the New England Patriots or the Cleveland Browns, the draft is just as important. Teams that are able to draft well are generally the best in the NFL.
After being in New York City for many years, the NFL made the decision to switch venues. In 2015, the Draft went to Chicago for the first time since 1963. After just two seasons in Chicago, the Draft will be on the move once again. In 2017, it will be heading to the City of Brotherly Love.
Per reporting on the move from Chase Goodbread at NFL.com:
“Philadelphia is a passionate football town and will serve as a tremendous backdrop for the Draft and provide a great atmosphere for our fans and incoming players,” Goodell said to Chase Goodbread of NFL.com. “Jeffrey Lurie has been a strong advocate and supporter of the draft on behalf of the City of Philadelphia throughout the entire selection process. We look forward to working with the Philadelphia Eagles, the City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) to create a week-long celebration of football for our fans.”
Philadelphia will now be hosting the event, as the NFL continues to move the Draft around from cities. After trading a lot of picks to move up in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles will be without a pick in the first round.
The decision to move up in the draft to select quarterback Carson Wentz turned out to be a great decision for the Eagles. Finding a franchise quarterback is an extremely difficult thing to accomplish. In recent years teams have made huge deals prior to the NFL Draft to find the next great quarterback.
After a Super Bowl Champion is crowned in February, we will be seeing rookies take the stage in Philadelphia.
