Was Clay Matthews' hit on Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo a cheap shot?

The veteran Green Bay Packers linebacker lunged at the knees of Romo after the latter threw a touchdown pass to fullback Tyler Clutts in the first quarter of Sunday's NFC divisional playoff game. Matthews was not flagged by referee Gene Steratore.

Romo, who has dealt with a rash of injuries this season, got right up and appeared to be fine after the hit.

DallasCowboys.com's Nick Eatman offered up his opinion in a brief tweet.

This, of course, isn't the first time Matthews has been accused of delivering a cheap shot. Former 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh criticized Matthews for a late hit he put on quarterback Colin Kaepernick last season. Matthews was later fined $15K for the hit.
