WATCH: Here's Bill Belichick casually ice skating at Gillette Stadium
On Friday afternoon, the Boston Bruins will host the Montreal Canadiens for the 2016 Winter Classic -- the annual outdoor NHL game. It's a tradition like no other in sports, and one that's made its way into the world of football.
The game will be played at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. It's also the "home" of head coach Bill Belichick. Prior to Friday's matchup between the Bruins and Canadiens, Belichick tested out the ice and did a few laps. He's used to doing laps on the sidelines, but he looks pretty comfortable on skates.
As seen in the video, he was joined by Bruins coach Claude Julien. The two shared the ice together for a bit ...
... until Belichick took a spill.
Hopefully Julien helped him up. One can assume he did, given the relationship and respect the two share. Belichick had this to say about Julien on Wednesday, via WEEI.
“Great, yeah. I love Claude. He’s a great guy,” Belichick said. “I think we probably have a lot in common just in the way we coach and look at the game and look at the team and things like that. I don’t know anything about hockey. It’s a pretty simple game, put the puck in the net. Love Claude and the job that he’s done.”
Belichick is obviously a better coach than he is an ice skater, but give the legend credit for taking his talents to the rink.
