Von Miller sent every AFC West player a special gift with a thank you note

At first blush, you'd assume that Von Miller was trolling.

That was my first reaction, anyway, when I heard the news that the Denver Broncos linebacker gifted a nice bottle of wine to every player in the AFC West — from the likes of Philip Rivers and Derek Carr, all the way down to the members of each team's practice squad.

Via The Denver Post:

The wine, called The Setting, was blended by Jesse Katz, a Boulder native and Fairview High grad, who founded Devil Proof Vineyards and Aperture Cellars in California. (Katz also created a custom blend for the wedding of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.) On the label of each bottle is an orange outline of eye-glasses, Miller’s signature accessory, and his signature.

And the accompanying note was truly heartfelt and sincere, thanking each and every player for the opportunity to compete in the NFL:

It is an honor and a privilege to take the field and compete with you twice a year. We are so fortunate to have this opportunity to fulfill our childhood dreams of playing in the NFL. The blood, sweat, aches and pains, and endless hours spent watching film are a testament to the love and dedication we have for this game. So take a moment, reflect on all your successes, and enjoy your accomplishment. Appreciate those who have helped you get this far, and start working towards your next childhood dream.

Thank you for helping to make our game great!

-Von Miller

There's no word on whether Miller's "Dancing with the Stars" rivals received a special gift of their own, however.

Miller, who was the MVP of Super Bowl 50, has an NFL-leading 12.5 sacks, 38 tackles and one forced fumble this season for the 7-4 Broncos. Denver, meanwhile, is 1-3 against AFC West opponents in 2016. Maybe buttering up the opposition with a nice glass of vino will pay off for Miller and his squad.

The Broncos face the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday and take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 14, before closing out the season against the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders.

That Chiefs game falls on Christmas Day, by the way. Here's hoping Kansas City's players remember to thank Miller for the wine.
