Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has a torn meniscus, no timetable for return
When Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson left Sunday night’s game with a knee injury, it was unclear how severe it was. On Monday, head coach Mike Zimmer provided an update, announcing that Peterson has a torn meniscus. There is no timetable set for his return.

Peterson twisted his right knee awkwardly as he went to the ground on a carry late in the third quarter of Minnesota's win against the Green Bay Packers. The Pro Bowl back was then helped to the locker room as he was unable to put any pressure on his right leg.
This obviously isn’t good news, but Zimmer didn’t dismiss the idea that Peterson could suit up and play this weekend against the Carolina Panthers. That would seem like a stretch, but the Vikings -- already playing without injured starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater this season -- appear to have dodged a bullet with this diagnosis.
During Zimmer’s tenure in Minnesota, the Vikings are 14-5 with Peterson and 6-9 without him in the lineup.
