Vikings PR Marcus Sherels downgraded to OUT in week 14 vs Jaguars
The Minnesota Vikings will be without the services of the punt returner Marcus Sherels for the team’s week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Coming into week 13, not having punt returner and special teams ace Marcus Sherels didn’t seem to be one of the biggest worries for the Minnesota Vikings. However, the team was noticeably hurt by his absence, with several special teams miscues against the Cowboys.
Sadly, it appears as though the team will need to make do without him at least one more time. It has been reported that Sherels has been downgraded to out for the Vikings week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The news of his status change was announced on the official Twitter account of the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.

In addition to the downgrading of Marcus Sherels, the team will also not have linebacker Edmond Robinson Jr available either.
More from The Viking Age
The news that both these individuals will be out is moderately surprising after both Robinson and Sherels were only listed as questionable for the week 14 game against the Jaguars until today.
Considering the issues the Vikings had with special teams against the Cowboys, having Sherels available to return punts and play on coverage teams would have been a huge asset in a must-win situation like week 14.
However, the major concern should always be long-term health. If Sherels needs to take more time to heal before returning to the football field, that is exactly what he should do. Running the risk of re-injury or playing through considerable amounts of pain wouldn’t be wise.
Hopefully, Marcus Sherels can make a full and speedy recovery soon and return to the Minnesota Vikings. Although he’s not one of the guys that people often think of when talking about important players to the team, it will definitely be easy to notice when he’s not on the field.
