Vikings LB Greenway: 'I got to play one more year'

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway isn't done yet. He's considering another season after falling in heartbreaking fashion to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Greenway, who turns 33 on Tuesday, is willing to come back for an 11th NFL season since it will give him a chance to go out on a better note.

The Vikings selected Greenway with the 17th-overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Since then, he has become one of Minnesota's key defensive contributors with over 1,000 tackles in 140 career games.

Greenway isn't the Pro Bowler he was a five years ago, but he's still a pretty productive linebacker. He played in all 16 games this year, starting 12 of them, and recorded 68 tackles (55 solo), 2.5 sacks and a 91-yard interception-return touchdown.

With Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks emerging as younger, more athletic players at his position, Greenway's impact will continue to wane if he's retained by the Vikings this offseason. The aging linebacker is slated to reach free agency this spring.
