Two recent free agents could get a call from the Raiders

Shonn Greene once rushed for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

Taylor Mays plays at a need position -- and was a star at head coach Jack Del Rio's alma mater.

Both players are ripe for the taking if the Raiders want to make a move. Greene and Mays earned their releases on Tuesday and are free to sign with a new team.

ESPN blogger Bill Williamson doesn't think Oakland could be that team, though. He points to Greene's age (the running back turns 30 in August) and Mays' lackluster career as reasons.

Still, Del Rio promised fans he'd seek to improve the roster at every chance. If either players make sense for his team come training camp, he'll surely ask general manager Reggie McKenzie to pull the trigger.
