Trent Williams missing time in OTAs with ankle injury

The Washington Redskins' best offensive player and arguably their best overall player will not be on the field as the team completes their second set OTA practices this week. Left tackle Trent Williams is still experiencing soreness in his left ankle from an injury dating back to Week 17 of the 2014 season. After a visit to the doctor, it looks like Williams will be out for the remainder of OTAs, and it is possible that we won't see the veteran back on the field until training camp.

“Nothing major at all. We wanted to get it under control right now. I didn’t want to have to deal with it all season,” Williams said, via Chris Russell of ESPN 980. “If I treat it the right way, right now [then] I wouldn’t have to go under the knife of any kind.”

Williams has been a leader on the field for the Redskins, and there has been speculation that the Redskins are talking long-term contract details with him. Keep an eye on his status as we move forward through the offseason's training activities and minicamps.
