Torrey Smith says goodbye to Ravens, Baltimore

Where will free-agent wide receiver Torrey Smith end up? That's not certain, but it's clear he's not returning to the Baltimore Ravens.

Writing in a blog post posted Sunday that he titled "Dear Baltimore," Smith said goodbye to the club and the city that have been his home since the Ravens drafted him out of the University of Maryland in 2011.

Addressing the Ravens players, Smith wrote: "I love y'all like brothers and will see y'all around." To the fans, he said: "It is tough to leave a city that I now call home. Y'all have embraced my family and me, and we truly appreciate it. ... Although I may no longer be a member of the Baltimore Ravens, at heart, I will always be a Raven."

Smith thanked most of the front office and coaching staff, in addition to singling out a load of his Baltimore teammates, particularly citing those he felt helped him grow in his Christian faith.

Where will he end up? The Baltimore Sun reported that the front-runner is the San Francisco 49ers, who have Anquan Boldin, who teamed with Smith at wide receiver on the Ravens' Super Bowl champion team in 2012. Another AFC North team, the Cleveland Browns, may be a possibility.
