Tony Romo says Dak Prescott 'earned the right' to start for Cowboys
Tony Romo met with the media Tuesday to discuss the Cowboys’ decision to have him serve as Dak Prescott’s backup and ceded that it is the right call.
Romo, who has been out since the preseason with a back injury, was medically cleared to return to the field but owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett opted to stick with Prescott as the starter.
Jones confirmed Sunday that Prescott will start this week against the Ravens and Romo will be active for the first time all year, albeit as the backup.
Romo spoke Tuesday about the decision to stick with Prescott and how tough this season has been for him.
Prescott has excelled the season, buoyed by a stalwart offensive like and the stellar play of fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott. Dallas is 8–1, the best record in the NFL, and Prescott has completed 66.8% of his passes for 2,339 yards, with 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
