Tony Gonzalez is thrilled that the Chiefs locked up Travis Kelce

The Kansas City Chiefs' old star tight end is happy they're keeping their new one around.

Future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez said he's been watching Travis Kelce play all season -- and couldn't be happier for his breakout season and fresh new contract.

Kelce caught 72 balls for 875 yards and five touchdowns in 2015. He inked a $46 million deal that'll keep him as Alex Smith's safety valve through 2021.

But the 26-year-old still has a long way to go to catch Gonzalez. Old No. 88 sits at sixth all-time in touchdown catches (111) over his storied 16-year career.

The good news? Gonzalez only scored three more touchdowns through his third season than Kelce did his his third year.
