Todd Bowles praises Quincy Enunwa and his offseason prep
Head coach Todd Bowles of the New York Jets recently chimed in his thoughts on the emergence of wide receiver Quincy Enunwa and how his offseason prep paved the way to success.
It’s no secret that last season, the New York Jets found major success on offense thanks to wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. They put up a monumental season that set and even broke franchise records but the only problem was, it was very dependent on just those two to get the job done with the Jets’ receiving corps.
Throughout the past offseason, the Jets knew they had to find a dependable No. 3 receiving option that could spell relief for Marshall and Decker. Both dealt with injuries last season and since the regular season is a long one, anything can happen. Should an unfortunate injury occur, the Jets would have to use the “next man up” mentality and luckily, they finally found someone to be their solid No. 3 option behind them.

Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa has prepared for this moment all offseason long. Not only has he emerged as a quality receiving option for the Jets but the best has yet to come. He worked hard this offseason mentally and physically and is clearly enjoying the results. Head coach Todd Bowles recently chimed in his thoughts on Enunwa so far this season. Here is what he had to say about him this week, courtesy of the Media Relations Department of the Jets:
On Quincy Enunwa and what he’s seen from him…
Biggest thing again was his offseason work ethic. Trying to get better with his hands, with his feet and running routes, and I think he’s cleaned a lot of that stuff up. Him learning the offense for another year, he’s gotten a lot better that way. So, he’s been able to help out a lot these last two games.
More from The Jet Press
So far this season, Enunwa has totaled 146 receiving yards, 13 receptions, and a touchdown.
Clearly, Enunwa has put everything together and if he stays healthy, will easily be a difference-maker for the Jets all throughout the regular season.
Last week against the Buffalo Bills, Enunwa proved just how clutch he can be.
Enunwa came up with huge receptions to not only keep those chains moving but put the Jets in a position to earn their first win of the season.
As the season progresses, one can imagine how well Enunwa will develop into being a serious offensive threat. His speed, ability to make big plays, and determination to put the Jets on the map, make him a fantastic compliment to Marshall and Decker.
Overall, Enunwa has already impressed many just a few weeks into the new season. At the rate he’s going, the Jets might have found their next premier No. 1 receiving threat over time. Marshall and Decker won’t play forever but the future at wide receiver is bright thanks to everything Enunwa brings to the table.
