Titans' Warmack on the mend after 'toe meat' removal

Playing in the NFL is hard on pretty much every part of the body, up to and including the toes.

Tennessee Titans guard Chance Warmack made that clear on Wednesday, telling reporters he had parts of ingrown toenails removed from both his big toes on Monday, along with chunks of what referred to as "toe meat" attached to the nails.

He then went into detail describing said toe meat.

“It kind of looked like crab meat,” Warmack said, per the Tennessean. “There was a lot of it. ... There was a whole bunch of stuff in there.”

Warmack said his toes were bothering him during Tennessee's preseason win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, but he was able to play despite the discomfort.

“I didn’t know what it was,” Warmack said. “Once the trainers told me what (the injury) was, I said I’ve got to take care of this now. I didn’t want them to get infected.”

The third-year player missed practice on Tuesday, but was back on field, minus the toe meat, on Wednesday.

“I was bleeding (Tuesday), but not anymore,” Warmack said. “They’re slowly getting better. I just need to keep soaking it and putting it in ice."
